Mark has been a miserable Soldier for Earth and his loved ones since the beginning of the series, calling him a Superhero doesn’t only mean referring to someone who’s buffed with extraordinary powers, Invincible has been the kind of hero who faced with harsh situations and extremely abnormal choices to make.
As Mark is finally trying to get over the destruction caused by his own 27 versions, Conquest makes an epic entry, almost unexpected! He goes on to explain to Mark the consequences of his naive decision. He was supposed to follow the orders of the Viltrumites and convince Earth to surrender to their empire. Mark, being a superhero who protects the Earth, refuses to consider their words and promises while choosing to let Earth remain a free planet.
Although conquest sounds as though he was here to impact some severe lessons into Invincible, his primary goal was to execute an ultimate punishment that ended with Invincible being destroyed completely, once and for all.
He came to Earth only to fulfill his hunger for battle:
Usually there are so many mission parameters, so many things not to destroy. People not to kill. But for whatever reason, and I dont really care why, I was ordered to take control of Earth by any means necessary. You did something to piss us off, and I thank you for that. This has been an immense joy.
Every battle that conquest has won so far only goes on to add to his misery. He is a victim of loneliness and solitude. Although the animated series couldn’t cover much, there’s more to Conquest than he explained. He is one of the most strongest Viltrumites to have ever existed and even his own kind doesn’t see him as anything more than their ultimate weapon ready to conquer anything.
His being sent to Earth could mean only one thing, the ultimate demise of Invincible, the Viltrumites might have decided to get over with it and let someone else take control of Earth.

There’s literally no scope for negotiations here, and Mark understands the true intentions of Conquest, who’s here to fight and fight only, to have an epic battle and be able to defeat his opponent.
